Sources and fields
A source tells the widget where to read data; a field selects one value from it. A daily goal can supply its name, today's total and its target. Several layers can read different fields from the same source.
Fixed text works for captions. Dynamic fields work for time, battery and personal records. Preview samples do not replace selecting a real record.
Connect content
- Select a text layer, open Content and its content-type selector, then choose date/time, battery or the personal content you need.
- To bind another property, open its rule in Conditions. Choose data lets you use an existing source or select a type from the Add data source group.
- Choose a real record or list for personal content. For system data, check the permissions described by the feature.
- Choose a field, such as goal name or today's total, and adjust its format.
- Check the preview, save and verify after the underlying data changes.
Before replacing a shared source, check which other layers use it. A new layer may need a separate source instead.
Format dates and time
Start with a preset in the date/time format panel. In custom patterns, MM means month and mm means minute. Use the symbol picker and preview to check the result.
Localized date names follow the system locale policy. Avoid replacing them with manually typed month names.
If data is empty
Check that the record still exists, the right list is selected, data is available and required access is granted. Empty health data does not by itself prove access was denied.
Home Screen refresh remains platform-scheduled. See refresh troubleshooting or conditions to change display based on another value.
For a home screen clock, see the Digital and analog clock guide to check the time source, format and desktop updates separately.
