Wallpaper blur, cropping and preview differences

Check image quality, system effects and screen proportions.

Updated September 17, 2026

Check the image you used

  1. Use the saved or downloaded image rather than a web thumbnail or screenshot.
  2. Check sharpness in the gallery first. If the file is sharp but the home screen is blurred, inspect system wallpaper effects.

Check home and lock screen settings

On iPhone, the home screen can be customized separately. Check its Blur option and selected photo. Lock and home screens need not use the same effect.

Foldable inner and cover screens have different proportions; preview and crop each separately. A static image does not automatically gain animation or spatial effects when used as wallpaper.

Different colors or subject position

Remove extra preview filters, reduce zoom and check whether the clock or widgets cover the subject. For a model-specific issue, report the screen type and OS version.
