Choose a task or a quantity
“Post a parcel” fits a to-do list. “Read 20 pages on each scheduled day” fits a daily goal because you can add several amounts during the day. Choose the recording method before choosing a widget that shows the name, total or progress.
Use a quantity you can check, such as 20 pages, with a clear unit. Do not alternate between pages and minutes in the same goal. Equal numbers do not represent equal work when the units differ.
Create a goal and check its schedule
- Open Profile → My Content → Daily goals and add a goal.
- Enter its name, target and unit. Set a schedule and start and end dates, or leave an ongoing goal without an end date.
- Configure reminders if needed, then confirm whether today is a scheduled day.
- Save and select this goal in the widget preview or data source. Check its name and unit.
See Daily goals and check-ins for the controls. Reminders are separate: displaying a goal does not schedule a notification. Setting a three-days-a-week plan to every day changes which dates contribute to statistics; changing the widget title will not correct that schedule.
Check a logging example
With a target of 20 pages, logging 5 pages and then 7 pages gives a daily total of 12, or 60% of the target. This is a fixed numerical example. Check your own entries in the goal details instead of relying only on a ring’s color.
Read the increment shown on the check-in button before tapping. Use a custom entry for another quantity. Confirm that the save completed before continuing, rather than tapping repeatedly to see whether anything happened. You can keep recording actual amounts after reaching the target; the current design determines how progress appears.
Undo the latest check-in immediately after a mistake. For an older error, open the details, choose the date in the calendar and correct an editable entry. You cannot log future dates in advance. See Record history.
Separate daily progress from period completion
Today’s 12/20 compares the recorded amount with that day’s target. A weekly or monthly completion rate counts completed scheduled days in the selected period. These percentages answer different questions.
For example, if the period contains three scheduled days so far and you reached the target on two, the completion rate is about 66.7%. It is not the sum of all pages divided by today’s target. Rest days and future dates do not enter the denominator. Check the date range when comparing periods.
Past records keep their target and unit from that time. Changing a daily target from 20 to 30 pages does not recalculate every historical date against 30. Totals with different units are not directly combined. Compare matching units and measures when assessing progress.
Verify the goal on the home screen
Save and prepare the design, then follow the iPhone setup guide or Android home screen steps. Check download availability for supported releases. Check both the saved design’s name and the goal’s name: a copied design may still refer to the original goal.
If app records are correct but the home screen is behind, see Refresh troubleshooting. If both are wrong, check the schedule, unit and entries first. To log from a widget, also check its tap action. An ordinary progress ring does not necessarily have a recording action.
Frequently asked questions
Why do rest days not affect the completion rate?
Statistics use scheduled days. Rest days and future dates are not counted as unfinished days in the denominator. Check the schedule before comparing weekly or monthly completion rates.
Why did changing the target not change all old records?
Historical records retain their target and unit from that time. A new plan does not recalculate every past date using the new standard.
What if a check-in adds the wrong amount?
Check the button increment, unit and daily entries. Undo the latest action after an accidental tap, or use a custom entry for another quantity. Do not keep tapping to offset a mistake.
Does a completed ring mean a reminder was scheduled?
No. Progress comes from records. A reminder needs separate configuration and notification permission. Visible progress does not prove that a notification was scheduled or delivered.
