Android brands: launcher, wallpaper and background settings

Find verified model or system examples without assuming every phone uses the same menus.

Samsung Galaxy: widgets and sleeping apps

On Galaxy, hold an empty home-screen area → Widgets → choose a style → Add. Resize handles appear only for resizable widgets.

For stalled background updates, inspect Battery and device care → Battery → Background usage limits. Check only the affected app; wording varies across One UI versions.

Xiaomi 14T Pro: a locked layout

On this model, pinch or hold the home screen → Widgets. If items cannot move, inspect Settings → Home screen → Lock Home screen layout. This is a verified 14T Pro example, not a universal HyperOS path.

OnePlus: home screen versus Shelf

OxygenOS 14 documents Settings → Wallpapers & style → Wallpapers, or the menu in Photos. Shelf widgets and home-screen widgets are separate; do not treat their pickers as interchangeable.

OPPO: check your ColorOS version

The ColorOS 11.1 clock example uses a home-screen long press → Add Widgets. ColorOS 14 documentation shows Wallpapers & style in Settings. These are different versions; consult your model’s manual if labels differ.

vivo: an official manual example

The vivo PD2405F manual uses a home-screen long press → Widgets, then dragging to place it. In Albums, open an image and choose Set as wallpaper. This manual does not establish a universal OriginOS or Funtouch OS path.

Huawei: widgets and service cards

Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4.0, 4.2 and 4.3 instructions place Widgets at the bottom of Service widgets after pinching the home screen. Service widgets themselves require app support.

Do not extend this older-system path to HarmonyOS 5 or later, or infer that MuseScreen has a native HarmonyOS release.
